How Live now works
- While location sharing is on, and it is on unless you turn it off, you appear here as an unnamed dot at your nearest city of 100,000 people or more, or just your country. Cloudflare works this out from your IP address; your IP address itself is never stored or shown.
- “Find me” asks your browser for your location once. It is turned into the nearest large city, or your country, on your own device, and only that is used. Your exact location is never sent, stored or shown.
- Your name only appears if you choose to appear with one. Use a first name or nickname, never your full name or contact details.
- You disappear within a minute of closing the page, and Live now keeps nothing about you after that.
- While you are live, the last few pairs of cities or countries you explored appear beneath your dot. Other people can open one or follow along. The list disappears with you and is never kept as a history.
- Waves from visitors are wordless and anonymous. Members of the invite-only beta can wave to each other; wave back and you become pen pals, who can write letters.
- Appearing with a name is for adults only while Together is being built.
- Turn location sharing or analytics off at any time in privacy settings.
